If you haven't already heard one of the bigger tribal payday lenders has gone out of business. The company in question is Minute Funds and their website, and the company itself, are both defunct. However, before you go looking online to see what is left of their website be careful and read the information below because there is some questionable issues surrounding the Minute Funds website.
Technically it's not the Minute Funds old site, this has to do with all of the unscrupulous website operators who have made very similar webpages that look quite similar to the old Minute Funds page. But these "companies" are not true Native American lenders and they have no tribal affiliation at all, as in zero.
The truth is these websites are almost certainly not even legitimate businesses at all but instead they are garbage sites attempting to grab your personal financial information. Why would they want to do that?
It's obvious now who these operators are, and let's be honest using term unscrupulous might be a little too generous for these folks because they are just trying to get people to these junk sites and they are hoping that the most unsuspecting of the visitors will input their personal financial data. Rather than applying for a loan what will be happening to the hopeful consumer is the loss of personal data to potential thieves.
Below is a list compiled of some of the worst offenders. We have removed the ".com" out of the email address for a couple reasons. First, we don't want anyone here at this site to accidentally go over to a garbage site. Second, there is no reason to be tied to these garbage operators because they are most likely engaged in either highly unethical behavior or potentially criminal actions. Either way they are not the type of internet citizens we want to be tied to. But we left the body of their websites so you can get a flavor of what you need to be alert to when (if) you come across them.
Here are the most egregious sites...
minutefundscom (so here they are trying to be tricky with 'com' right up against the name of the company)
minutefundsinc (here they are putting the 'inc' behind the site name, not too clever)minutefunds-com (this one is my favorite as they put a dash between the company name and what should be the .com of the site)
These various creeps are not very careful about the fact that they are using a defunct company to try to capture some visitors. On a very functional level this makes sense because Minute Funds in their prime had a huge number of customers, so on practical level what these sites are doing is logical. But the on the moral side they must realize that the people who are searching for Minute Funds want the real company, most likely they are (would-be) returning customers or perhaps they never paid off their original debt and they want to make good on the outstanding amount.
These consumers and former customers definitely do not want some ridiculous reproduction of the site they were looking for. So more than advice on whether or not it's a good idea to go into debt with high interest loan products, this message is strictly for people who are trying to find Minute Funds. There are two clear notes to take away from this article...
1) Minute Funds is gone, they are out of business. If you owe them money, or feel that they owe you a refund, or want to talk to them about some past transaction, you can just forget all of those things. There is no one there, you will not be getting a phone call or an email from them, it's all over. The good thing is if you still owed them money, well you don't need to worry about repaying them. Of course they most likely already sold your debt off to a collection agency and that company is most likely still in business, in fact they are probably calling your cell phone as you read this.
2) All of the sites that look like they are Minute Funds are not Minute Funds. They are not the company you are looking for and you will not get anything from communicating with them or providing them any information. You might get your personal data stolen or you might get a barrage of marketing emails (or snail mail) if you give them your information, but you will in no way be getting anything from Minute Funds.
The lesson is do not even try to locate Minute Funds because there is nothing left of the company.
